Ratification by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of the Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage (Paris, 2 November 2001)

On 13 November 2015, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia deposited with the Director-General its instrument of ratification of the Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage.

The instrument contained the following declaration:

« déclare, en vertu du paragraphe 2 de l'article 9, que le Royaume exigera de ses nationaux et des capitaines de navire battant son pavillon qu'ils lui déclarent toute découverte ou intervention concernant le patrimoine subaquatique situé dans la zone économique exclusive ou sur le plateau continental d'un autre État partie, et que le Royaume se chargera d'en informer les autres États parties. » [original: Arabic]

In accordance with the terms of its Article 27, the aforementioned Convention will enter into force with respect to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia three months after the date of the deposit of this instrument, that is to say on 13 February 2016.
