MORE than 60 years ago, in about 1951, Adelaide university student Alan Myren was poking around in an antiques shop when a small statue caught his eye. The highly decorative, mystical-looking figure stood 22cm high, was forged from metal that had become mottled and, on account of its weight, was being used to prop open a door."I just happened to notice it, it still had the original soil in the recesses of it," he says. -
