Ratification by Belgium of the Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage (Paris, 2 November 2001)

On 5 August 2013, Belgium deposited with the Director-General its instrument of ratification of the Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage.
The instrument was accompanied by the following declaration:

“Se référant à l’article 28 de la Convention, le Royaume de Belgique déclare que les Règles de la Convention s’appliquent à ses eaux continentales qui ne présentent pas un caractère maritime.” [Original : French]

In accordance with the terms of its Article 27, the aforementioned Convention will enter into force with respect to Belgium three months after the date of the deposit of this instrument, that is to say on 5 November 2013.
