Towards repatriation of Botswana's cultural property

 As Botswana prepares to host a regional workshop on illicit trafficking of cultural property next month, Mmegi Correspondent SYLVIAH DISELE learns that a lot of the country's cultural heritage has been appropriated by various nations

   
Botswana has started the process to become a signatory to UNESCO conventions designed to arrest the spectre of illicit trafficking of cultural property. Chief curator of ethno-history, Winani Kgwatalala says such international legal instruments will help repatriate properties trafficked during the colonisation period.
