LCCHP Fellowship Inline image 1

The Lawyers’ Committee for Cultural Heritage Preservation (LCCHP) welcomes applications for 2-3 month long fellowships to assist LCCHP in development of its educational and advocacy projects. This is an unpaid, volunteer position, however participation of candidates in a post-J.D. fellowship sponsored by his or her law school is encouraged.  The Fellow could perform his or her responsibilities from any location in the United States, and would report to the Executive Director of LCCHP, and would receive assignments from the Executive Director and members of LCCHP’s Board of Directors.

We envision that the Fellow will engage in a wide breadth of work relating to the legal issues arising in the area of cultural heritage preservation.  LCCHP engages in research, advocacy, outreach, and education in both international (e.g., UNESCO and treaty-related) cultural heritage protection, as well as national efforts in this area. We regularly hold a national conference, and co-sponsor additional events throughout the year. We also co-sponsor and draft amicus briefs and support relevant legislative and regulatory efforts.

Our Fellow would work on a variety of projects and events such as these throughout the Fellowship term, including legal research and writing, conference planning, developing educational programs for/with law schools, attending Board meetings, developing fund-raising programs, and generally becoming immersed in the many aspects of national and international cultural heritage protection. The Fellow would work closely with and receive direction from both the Executive Director and members of the Board of Directors and its Committees, and would have the opportunity to attend and participate in Committee events.

    Qualifications

The Fellow should have successfully earned an undergraduate and J.D. degree. Experience on a law journal or moot court is preferred, but not required. Consideration will be given to participation in clinics and/or externships, research, and other types of work or participation in legal activities relating to art and/or cultural heritage law.

Interested candidates can submit a cover letter and resume to director@culturalheritagelaw.org

Applications are accepted and reviewed year-round on a continuous basis.
