Conference on 'Governance of Cultural Property: Preservation and Recovery'
Academics and practitioners from different fields will cover interconnected topics ranging from the roles and responsibilities of museums, cultural property protection in conflict situations, the grey areas of the art business and the thin line between legality and misdemeanour, outright theft and money-laundering in the cultural assets trade, (inter)national legal means and voluntary initiatives aiming at the prevention of such unlawful acts and, finally, mechanisms of recovering stolen artefacts and the negotiations surrounding their potential repatriation.
