Paintings once owned by Ignatz Pick, the grandfather of Baltimore artist Monique Goss, have recently been recovered as part of a lengthy legal battle over custody of several paintings looted during the Nazi era. This fall program will clarify the complex legal and ethical issues surrounding art looting during World War II.

WHAT:
RETURNED TREASURES: A REUNION OF ARTWORK LOOTED DURING THE NAZI ERA

Paintings once owned by Ignatz Pick, the grandfather of Baltimore artist Monique Goss, have recently been recovered as part of a lengthy legal battle over custody of several paintings looted during the Nazi era. This fall program will clarify the complex legal and ethical issues surrounding art looting during World War II.

WHEN:
Sunday, October 5, 2–5 p.m.

Panelists will discuss issues surrounding the past, present and future of museum provenance as well as legal and ethical issues raised by Nazi art looting. Participants include Monique Goss, artist; Thomas R. Kline, partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Andrews Kurth LLP; Elizabeth Rodini, art historian and founder/director of the Program in Museum and Society at The Johns Hopkins University; and Anna B. Rubin, Director of the Holocaust Claims Processing Office of the New York State Banking Department.
